Wheel Masters Wickford Limited · Company 15803639
Who we are
A dedicated alloy wheel refinishing workshop in Wickford. Powder coating, diamond cutting, welding and buckle removal — all of it on site, none of it sent away.
What we actually are
Wheel Masters is a bespoke and standard alloy wheel powder coating service, specialising in complete wheel refinishing, diamond cutting and crack and buckle repair. That is not marketing copy — it is a fairly literal description of the equipment in the building.
Most places that advertise wheel refurbishment are one of two things: a bodyshop doing it as a sideline, or a mobile operator with a compressor and a van. Both are legitimate. Neither has a chemical strip tank, a powder booth, an oven, a CNC lathe, a TIG set, a straightening machine, a tyre machine and a balancer under one roof. We do, and that is the whole point of us.
It means a wheel that comes in cracked, buckled, corroded and kerbed goes through every one of those processes in the right order, in one building, without anyone posting it anywhere or hoping someone else did it properly.
How we work
Three things, and we would rather be judged on them than on adjectives.
- Everything is stripped. Chemically, back to bare aluminium, with the tyre off. There is no version of this job where we key the old finish and spray over it. That is what a cheap quote is, and it is why it comes back.
- Structure before cosmetics. Welding, straightening and machining happen before anything goes near the paint booth. Every welded wheel is pressure-tested. There is no point coating a wheel you are about to have to weld.
- We tell you what we find. Nobody knows a wheel is cracked until the finish is off it. When something turns up that changes the price, you get a phone call before we do anything — not a bigger invoice at the end.
The things we say no to
This is the part most workshops leave off their about page, so here it is on ours.
- We do not weld cracks through spokes or hub faces. Those are load paths. If someone offers to, that tells you what you need to know about the rest of their work.
- We are straight about diamond-cut finishes: they have a shorter, finite life than powder coat, and no one honest will tell you otherwise. There is bare machined aluminium under a clear coat — how long it lasts depends on the casting, the salt and your luck with stone chips. We use a market-leading corrosion-inhibiting lacquer to push it as far as it goes, and that is genuinely all anyone can do.
- We advise against diamond cutting EV wheels. They are built to tight weight margins and manufacturers rarely publish a minimum thickness. It costs us work to say that and we say it anyway.
- We do not remove emissions equipment from road-going vehicles. Off-road, motorsport, plant and export — yes. Your daily driver — no, and we will explain why rather than take the money.
The other half of the unit
The tuning side runs out of the same building: Stage 1 remapping written for your exact engine, data-logged and road-tested, plus proper DPF and AdBlue diagnosis. We offer Stage 1 and an economy map — no Stage 2 or 3 — so our calculator sticks to those two, and there is no point advertising numbers from a build we would not sell you.
Where we are and who we see
Unit 40, Andersons Industrial Estate, Wickford. Two minutes off the A130, ten from the A127. That puts most of Essex inside half an hour, east London on one road, and north Kent a straight run over the Dartford Crossing — and we are well outside the ULEZ, so the trip costs you nothing in charges. See the areas we cover.
We work for private owners, local independents, bodyshops and a handful of main-dealer sites. If you are a garage currently farming refinishing out to a mobile, it is worth a conversation.
Come and have a look
We are on Andersons Industrial Estate, just off Cranfield Park Road opposite the BP garage. Bring the car, or bring the wheels.
