AdBlue Fault Diagnosis, Repair & Off-Road SCR Solutions
AdBlue countdown warning you the car will not restart? NOx sensor fault? SCR systems are expensive to fix badly and cheap to fix properly if you catch them early. We diagnose the actual fault first — and for off-road vehicles only, we also offer SCR removal.
AdBlue — technically a urea solution injected into the exhaust — lets an SCR catalyst convert NOx into nitrogen and water. When it works you never think about it. When it does not, you get a warning, then a countdown, then a car that will not restart once the countdown reaches zero. That last part is a legally mandated inducement strategy, and it is why people panic.
The faults are usually specific and findable: a crystallised injector, a failed NOx sensor, a pump that has packed up, a heater circuit that has failed over winter, or a quality sensor that has decided your perfectly good AdBlue is wrong. We read the live data and find which it is.
Fixing it properly is nearly always cheaper than people assume, especially compared with a main dealer quote for a complete SCR module. And it keeps the car legal, which matters more than it sounds.
We also carry out AdBlue and SCR removal for vehicles used exclusively off the public road — motorsport, competition, plant, agricultural and export. As with DPF work, we will say it plainly: disabling an SCR system on a road-going vehicle is not legal in the UK, it will fail an MOT emissions check on affected vehicles, and it can affect your insurance. We will ask what the vehicle is used for. What happens after it leaves is on you.
Common questions
Is an AdBlue delete legal?
Not for road use. Disabling an SCR system on a road-going vehicle is not road-legal in the UK and can fail an MOT. We only do this work on vehicles used exclusively off the public road.
My car says it will not restart in 200 miles.
That is the inducement strategy — it is designed to be alarming. It does not mean the car is broken beyond repair. Get the actual fault read; it is very often a sensor or a crystallised injector, and it is fixable.
Why is my AdBlue warning on when the tank is full?
Usually a quality sensor, a level sensor or a NOx sensor reporting a fault, or a heater circuit that has failed. The system does not care that you just filled it if a sensor says otherwise.
Is AdBlue repair expensive?
Far less than most people expect, and far less than a dealer replacing the whole module. The trick is finding the actual fault rather than replacing parts hopefully.
