How these figures are worked out

Every engine in the catalogue has its factory power, torque, weight, 0–100 km/h and combined economy on file. From there the estimate applies realistic Stage 1 gain ranges for that engine's induction type — turbo petrol, turbo diesel, supercharged, or naturally aspirated — because a turbo diesel and an atmospheric petrol respond to a remap in completely different ways. A turbo has boost to give; a naturally aspirated engine largely does not, and we would rather show you a small number than sell you a big one.

Acceleration is derived from the power-to-weight change rather than invented, with a sensible ceiling on the improvement — traction, gearing and the driver all get in the way of physics. Economy assumes you drive the car the same way afterwards, which, in fairness, most people do not.

Why they are a range, not a number

Because an honest answer is a range. The same engine in two cars can log differently depending on condition, fuel, mileage, servicing and how tired the turbo is. Anyone quoting an exact figure for your car before it has been on the tools is quoting from a brochure. We confirm the actual numbers on your car and log them.

What Stage 1 means here

Standard hardware, start to finish. Standard turbo, standard intercooler, standard exhaust, standard clutch. We read and back up your original file, write a map for your exact engine and specification, data-log it, and road-test it before you get the keys. It can go back to standard whenever you want.

And the economy map

The economy option is a different goal with the same care: a softer power increase, more torque low down, and a calibration aimed at fuel rather than lap times. On a van or a daily diesel it lets you stay in a higher gear and off the throttle, which is where the saving actually comes from. Same standard hardware, same data-logging, same road test.
