Alloy wheel refurbishment in Laindon

Laindon customers come to us up the A132 from the A127, and the drive is a lot quicker than the map suggests. It is a mixed bag of work from here — plenty of straightforward refurbs, but also a steady stream of diamond-cut wheels off newer Audis, BMWs and Range Rovers that have gone milky under the lacquer. That is a job most mobile outfits cannot do at all: it needs a lathe, and we have one on site.

We are not a mobile service — Laindon customers come to us. Everything is done at our Wickford unit (Unit 40, Andersons Industrial Estate, SS12 9EJ). We do not offer collection or mobile visits, so you make your own way here — about 17 minutes and 8 miles from Laindon. Drop the car in, or bring the wheels loose.

The run from Laindon

A127 east to the Fortune of War, then the A132 north into Wickford. Roughly seventeen minutes.

There is no travel charge and no premium for coming from outside Wickford — the price is the price. If 8 miles is an awkward round trip to do twice, bring the wheels loose instead: four in the back of an estate or a van works perfectly well, and plenty of our Laindon customers do exactly that.

The Laindon end of the A127 is notorious for standing water and the potholes that follow it. If you have taken a real hit there, get the wheel checked for a buckle even if it looks fine — a slow, steady vibration at 60 is the classic symptom.

What we do for Laindon cars

Everything happens at Unit 40 — nothing is sent away and nothing is subcontracted. That matters most for the two jobs a mobile repairer genuinely cannot do: diamond cutting, which needs a CNC lathe, and crack welding, which needs a TIG set and a pressure test.

  • Full refurbishment — chemically stripped to bare metal, repaired, powder coated and oven-cured. From £75 a wheel.
  • Diamond cutting — on our own lathe, with a corrosion-inhibiting lacquer. The fix for wheels that have gone cloudy or milky.
  • Crack repair — veed out, TIG welded, machined back and pressure-tested. A cracked wheel is an MOT failure.
  • Buckle straightening — runout measured, not guessed. This is what that vibration at 60 usually is.
  • Caliper painting — calipers off the car, stripped and coated properly. The obvious moment to do it is while the wheels are already off.
  • Locking nut removal — no key needed. From £20 per wheel.

We also run the tuning side out of the same unit — Stage 1 remapping written for your exact engine, plus proper DPF and AdBlue diagnosis. Check what your car should make.
