Alloy wheel refurbishment in Shenfield

Shenfield is twenty minutes down the A129 and a consistent source of work. It is a commuter town with a serious station car-park problem — thousands of cars parked tight, twice a day, by people in a hurry. The result is a lot of kerb rash on otherwise immaculate cars. Because a scuffed face is the easiest repair we do, Shenfield jobs are usually quick and cheap, and often same-day if the wheels are in early.

We are not a mobile service — Shenfield customers come to us. Everything is done at our Wickford unit (Unit 40, Andersons Industrial Estate, SS12 9EJ). We do not offer collection or mobile visits, so you make your own way here — about 20 minutes and 10 miles from Shenfield. Drop the car in, or bring the wheels loose.

The run from Shenfield

A129 east through Billericay into Wickford. Twenty minutes and no motorway.

There is no travel charge and no premium for coming from outside Wickford — the price is the price. If 10 miles is an awkward round trip to do twice, bring the wheels loose instead: four in the back of an estate or a van works perfectly well, and plenty of our Shenfield customers do exactly that.

Shenfield station car park is, frankly, the single most reliable source of kerbed rims in CM15. The bays are narrow and the kerbs are square-edged — a bad combination at 07:40.

What we do for Shenfield cars

Everything happens at Unit 40 — nothing is sent away and nothing is subcontracted. That matters most for the two jobs a mobile repairer genuinely cannot do: diamond cutting, which needs a CNC lathe, and crack welding, which needs a TIG set and a pressure test.

  • Full refurbishment — chemically stripped to bare metal, repaired, powder coated and oven-cured. From £75 a wheel.
  • Diamond cutting — on our own lathe, with a corrosion-inhibiting lacquer. The fix for wheels that have gone cloudy or milky.
  • Crack repair — veed out, TIG welded, machined back and pressure-tested. A cracked wheel is an MOT failure.
  • Buckle straightening — runout measured, not guessed. This is what that vibration at 60 usually is.
  • Caliper painting — calipers off the car, stripped and coated properly. The obvious moment to do it is while the wheels are already off.
  • Locking nut removal — no key needed. From £20 per wheel.

We also run the tuning side out of the same unit — Stage 1 remapping written for your exact engine, plus proper DPF and AdBlue diagnosis. Check what your car should make.
