Alloy wheel refurbishment in Runwell

Runwell is about as local as it gets — you are closer to the unit than most of Wickford is. That makes it the easiest place in Essex to get wheels done properly: a lot of Runwell customers drop off first thing, walk or get a lift back, and have the car home the same day. We do a steady trade in the newer estates off Runwell Road, where narrow kerbed parking bays claim rims with dispiriting regularity.

We are not a mobile service — Runwell customers come to us. Everything is done at our Wickford unit (Unit 40, Andersons Industrial Estate, SS12 9EJ). We do not offer collection or mobile visits, so you make your own way here — about 6 minutes and 2 miles from Runwell. Drop the car in, or bring the wheels loose.

The run from Runwell

Down Runwell Road into Wickford, right at the station, out along London Road and onto Cranfield Park Road — six minutes on a clear run.

There is no travel charge and no premium for coming from outside Wickford — the price is the price. If 2 miles is an awkward round trip to do twice, bring the wheels loose instead: four in the back of an estate or a van works perfectly well, and plenty of our Runwell customers do exactly that.

Runwell Road itself has had years of patch repairs and the edges are broken up in places. Watch the kerb line at the Poplars junction — it catches low-profile rears constantly.

What we do for Runwell cars

Everything happens at Unit 40 — nothing is sent away and nothing is subcontracted. That matters most for the two jobs a mobile repairer genuinely cannot do: diamond cutting, which needs a CNC lathe, and crack welding, which needs a TIG set and a pressure test.

  • Full refurbishment — chemically stripped to bare metal, repaired, powder coated and oven-cured. From £75 a wheel.
  • Diamond cutting — on our own lathe, with a corrosion-inhibiting lacquer. The fix for wheels that have gone cloudy or milky.
  • Crack repair — veed out, TIG welded, machined back and pressure-tested. A cracked wheel is an MOT failure.
  • Buckle straightening — runout measured, not guessed. This is what that vibration at 60 usually is.
  • Caliper painting — calipers off the car, stripped and coated properly. The obvious moment to do it is while the wheels are already off.
  • Locking nut removal — no key needed. From £20 per wheel.

We also run the tuning side out of the same unit — Stage 1 remapping written for your exact engine, plus proper DPF and AdBlue diagnosis. Check what your car should make.
