Division one — Wheels
Tyre Fitting, Removal & Wheel Balancing
We have a tyre machine and a balancer on site, so a refurbishment does not mean a trip to a fitter first and another one after. Wheels come in on the car and go back on the car, balanced and torqued.
Every refurbishment involves removing the tyre — you cannot chemically strip a wheel with rubber on it — so tyre work is built into what we do rather than bolted on. If you would rather not go anywhere else, you do not have to.
We can supply and fit new tyres on request. If you are replacing them anyway, doing it while the wheels are already stripped is the obvious moment. We will also always show you the inside of a tyre that came off a wheel with impact damage — a bulge or a bruise on the inner liner is a replacement, not a debate.
Balancing is done properly on the balancer, with the correct weights for the wheel type — adhesive weights on the inner barrel for anything with a finished face, so you are not looking at clip-ons hammered onto a freshly coated rim.
One thing worth reading before you book: we are not able to dispose of old tyres, valves or fitting waste. That is a licensing matter rather than an unwillingness, and it is set out in our terms.
Common questions
Do I need to take my tyres off first?
No — bring the car as it is. We take the wheels off, the tyres off, do the work and put it all back together balanced and torqued.
Will you fit tyres I have bought elsewhere?
Yes, that is fine. Bring them along with the car.
Why do you recommend new valves?
Because a rubber valve that has been in a wheel for four years and then pulled through a strip and refit is a leak waiting to happen. Rubber valves are supplied free of charge with a refurbishment. Chrome valves are £7.50 each if you want them.
Can you dispose of my old tyres?
No — we are not licensed for waste tyre disposal, so you will need to take them with you or arrange it separately. It is set out in our terms so there are no surprises on the day.
