Locking Wheel Nut Removal — Even Without the Key
Lost the key? Rounded it off? It happens constantly, and it is not the disaster it feels like. We remove locking wheel nuts on site with proper extraction tools and can supply replacements.
The locking wheel nut key is the single most commonly lost item in any car. It ends up in a house move, a glovebox clear-out, or the hands of the last garage that touched the car. And then you get a flat, or you book a refurbishment, and it turns into a problem.
We remove them on site with specialist extraction tools — the sort designed to bite into a hardened nut and back it out without damaging the wheel around it. It is a job that takes patience rather than force, and it is one we do most weeks.
The charge is from £20 per wheel. If your car has a full set of locking nuts and no key, that is the number times four. We can supply and fit a replacement set, or standard nuts if you would rather be done with the whole idea.
Worth saying: if you have got a key, bring it. Every vehicle left with us needs to come with its locking key and any special tools for removing the wheels — it is in our terms, and it saves you a charge you did not need to pay.
Common questions
How much is it?
From £20 per wheel. Bring your key if you have one and it costs you nothing.
Will it damage my wheel?
It should not — the extraction tools grip the nut, not the wheel, and the face is protected during the job. This is a routine job for us rather than an improvised one.
Can you replace the set afterwards?
Yes. We can supply a new locking set coded to a fresh key, or fit standard nuts if you would rather not have the problem again.
What if the nut is rounded off already?
That is the usual state they arrive in — someone has had a go with the wrong key. It is still removable.
