Does my photo get uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole thing runs in your browser — the photo is never sent to us, to a server, or to any AI service. Close the tab and it is gone. That is also why it is instant and free.

Why can't I preview a diamond cut on my photo?

Because a diamond cut is a machined face, not a colour. Painting silver over a photo of your wheel would look nothing like the real thing, so rather than fake it we leave it out. Use the studio wheel to see how a diamond cut actually behaves.

My wheels are already black and silver looks wrong in the preview.

That is the tool being honest rather than broken. A photo of a black wheel has no detail hidden in the shadows to bring back, so there is nothing for a light finish to sit on. In real life a strip back to bare aluminium gives us a clean surface to work from, so going lighter is genuinely no problem — it just cannot be previewed from a dark photo.

It is a guide to colour and sheen, not a prediction. Your wheel design, its condition, the light and your screen all have a say. If the exact shade matters, come and look at the sample panels at the workshop.

Getting a preview that means something

Daylight, always. Not a garage, not at night, not under a sodium lamp. The tool works by keeping the light and shade already in your photo and re-colouring underneath it — no light, nothing to work with.
An angle is fine. A wheel photographed from anywhere but square-on is an oval, so drag the red dots to squash the ring onto it. A sharp photo from a couple of paces back beats a close-up either way.
Clean-ish is better. A wheel caked in brake dust previews as a wheel caked in brake dust.
Ring the rim, not the tyre. Pull it out to where the alloy stops. If it starts colouring the rubber, wind Coverage down.
Pinch to zoom. Zoom right in and the ring can sit exactly on the rim edge. Once you are zoomed, drag inside the ring to move it, outside it to shift the photo — and two fingers pan from anywhere.
Tap the photo to hide the guides and see the finish on its own. Tap a wheel to bring them back.

What it will not do

It will not fake a diamond cut. The machined face is the entire point of that finish, and a silver wash over a photo would be a lie — so it is simply not offered here. The diamond cutting page explains what it really is, and why it is the one job most repairers send away.

It will not turn black wheels silver convincingly either. There is no detail hidden in a photographed shadow to bring back. That is a limit of the photo, not of the process: strip a black wheel back to bare aluminium and it will take any colour you like.

And it is a guide, not a promise. Our terms put it plainly — we cannot promise a perfect finish on a wheel whose condition we have not seen, but we will always improve the look of your wheels. A preview on a screen is not the same as an old casting under a workshop light.
