Real gains, honestly shown: the Orion Performance website
A premium, dark-themed website for an Essex ECU-remapping and servicing garage — with a live gains calculator, animated performance graphics and serious local SEO.
Orion Performance is an ECU-remapping, servicing and performance-tuning garage in Elsenham, Essex. In a market full of "enter your reg for +40 bhp" gimmicks, they wanted a site that felt genuinely high-end — and, above all, honest about the numbers.
The brief
Look every bit as precise and premium as the work, give people a real sense of what their car could gain, and get found for remapping and servicing across Essex.
What I built
A dark, cinematic site built around performance. The hero is an animated gains-projection chart — a stock curve and a Stage 2 curve drawing themselves, a dot riding the line, and the BHP, torque and 0–60 figures counting up.
- A live gains calculator — pick your make, model and engine and see honest Stage 1 and Stage 2 estimates for power, torque and acceleration, with a metric/imperial toggle. Every figure is one Orion can stand behind.
- Booking one tap away — a popup to call, WhatsApp your reg, or email, on every page.
- Proper local pages — individual service and area pages so the site ranks for real searches, not just the homepage.
- An animated constellation backdrop — chrome stars and red connecting lines that keep it feeling alive without getting in the way.
Honesty as the differentiator
The whole site avoids the usual tuning-industry spin. There are no invented "dyno" claims — the language is "road-tested" and "logged on the car", the calculator figures are clearly estimates until Orion's own results replace them, and gains are framed as realistic for your exact vehicle rather than a headline number. That honesty is the edge a scraped calculator can't match.
Under the bonnet
It's a flat-file PHP build with a custom admin panel, a weekly-updating vehicle database, and a contact form wired to authenticated SMTP. Local SEO is baked in throughout — LocalBusiness schema, service and area pages, a full sitemap and llms.txt — so it's working to get found across Essex, Kent and East London.
In an industry full of inflated numbers, the honest calculator is the one that builds trust.
The result is a site that looks as sharp as the tuning, gives customers a real reason to get in touch, and is built to rank.
