Truth over sales: the Bella Avora website
A tanning, wellness and weight-management studio in South Yorkshire that would rather lose a sale than oversell — so the website leads with education and a conversation, not a checkout.

Bella Avora is a small South Yorkshire studio offering professional sunless tanning, GHK-Cu copper-peptide skincare and prescriber-led weight-management support — serving Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley plus more than thirty surrounding towns, with nationwide postage and local collection. The brand's whole identity is candour: they say, in so many words, that they would rather lose a sale than oversell. The website had to carry that honesty without losing the polish a wellness brand needs.
The problem: wellness websites that oversell
The wellness and weight-management space is saturated with hype — miracle claims, countdown timers and hard-sell checkouts. For a business built on prescriber-led, consultation-first services, that playbook would be worse than useless: it would undermine the very trust the brand runs on, and regulated products demand careful, accurate language rather than marketing gloss. Bella Avora needed the opposite of the sector norm — a site that slows the sale down on purpose.
The approach: education first, sales second
A calm, editorial design
Soft, warm tones, serif headlines and generous space — closer to a magazine than a shop. The design does quiet work: it signals considered, premium and honest before a word is read, and it holds up beautifully on the phones almost all of this audience arrives on.
Education before checkout
The centre of the site is a Learn section — six plain-English guides covering how GLP-1 weight-management medicines work, who is and isn't eligible, side effects and keeping muscle while losing weight — alongside a growing Journal. Claims are deliberately measured (the site is upfront that a sunless tan offers no meaningful sun protection, and that the evidence for copper peptides is real but modest), with clear medical disclaimers throughout. Where most competitors push to a basket, Bella Avora routes people through understanding first — because informed customers are the ones who stay.
WhatsApp-first, consultation-led
There's no pushy checkout. Enquiries flow through WhatsApp seven days a week, with prescriber-led consultation before any weight-management purchase and a simple postage-or-collection flow for products. The website's job is to start the right conversation, not to close a cold transaction.
Found across South Yorkshire — and by AI
Under the calm surface it's a hand-coded, fast build with structured data, town-level coverage across South Yorkshire and question-led content that AI answer engines can read and quote. Honest, specific answers turn out to be exactly what both Google and AI search want to surface.
The result
Bella Avora has a website that matches how they actually do business: it educates first, earns trust with unusually straight talk, converts through conversation rather than pressure, and is built to be found across the towns they serve.
What it shows
In a sector drowning in hype, honesty is a positioning. When the brand's edge is telling the truth, the website's structure — education before sales, conversation before checkout — isn't a compromise on conversion. It is the conversion strategy.
